I have been trying to buy this mascara at my local Sephora for OVER a month. I finally got it about a week ago! Needless to say, I am VERY excited! HUZZAH!
If you didn’t already know, I’m obsessed with Asian beauty products! I have been trying to get my hands on a FairyDrops (which is originally from Japan) mascara for a while but of course they’re hard to find unless you’re ordering on a website that carries Asian beauty products. Luckily, Sephora started carrying FairyDrops not too long ago.
Currently, this is the only product that Sephora carries from FairyDrops. To my knowledge, this is a different version of another mascara. The original FairyDrops mascara actually has a straight brush. Scandal Queen (this is the name of the mascara carried at Sephora) has the same tiered shape, except that it’s curved inward like a “c”. The reason it’s shaped this way is because it’s said to coat more lashes (long and short) than a regular mascara wand.
The shape of this mascara reminds me a bit of Dior’s Extase mascara, they both share the same kind of tiered shape. However, I learned that Extase was shaped that way because of the season’s trend. Scandal Queen’s shape has a purpose, whereas Extase is solely for visual interest.
Scandal Queen’s packaging has A LOT of information! It even has directions on how to apply the mascara which, I found very helpful! I also learned that it has five treatment essences: squalene, jojoba seed oil, panthenol, hydrolyzed collagen, and sodium hyaluronate. Interestingly enough, I know that a lot of these ingredients add hydration and moisture (I see them a lot in skincare products and I also know this because I used to work at Sephora!). My guess is that the added hydration makes the lashes appear thicker.
It’s also water-resistant and I keep reading reviews about how the wear is terrible but I actually cried today (nothing serious, just being a girl) and it stayed on. In this case, my pain was your gain! Haha!
This mascara also has fibers in it to make the lashes longer. I used to own the Fiberwig mascara (another Japanese mascara) which has tons of fibers in it and I wasn’t crazy with the end result. The fibers on FairyDrops’ Scandal Queen don’t bother me at all.
The packaging also mentions that there is a polymer in the formula that is supposed to keep your lashes curled all day. I have long, straight, and thin lashes. Usually, I curl my lashes and my curl stays throughout the day, so I don’t really have a curl problem. It is nice to know though, that there is something in the mascara that reinforces my curl!
So far I’m enjoying the mascara! It’s a bit expensive at $24.00 a pop but so far it has been worth it!
♥,
Elba
